Startup founders, researchers, and students across Egypt are eligible. There are dedicated tracks for early-stage startups, university seniors or fresh grads (graduation projects), and high school STEM students. If you’re working on a deep tech innovation – whether as a team of entrepreneurs, a research group, or a student project – you can participate. Multidisciplinary teams are encouraged. (You must be based in Egypt or an Egyptian national to qualify.)
“Deep tech” refers to innovations built on substantial scientific or engineering advances, rather than just app-based or service ideas. Examples include artificial intelligence and machine learning, biotechnology and healthcare tech, robotics and autonomous systems, advanced materials or nanotech, clean energy solutions, space and aerospace technologies, cybersecurity innovations, and more. Deep tech projects typically involve significant R&D and have the potential to reshape industries and solve complex challenges.
No – projects at various stages are welcome. You should have at least a proof of concept or prototype (even if early-stage) and a clear vision of the problem you’re solving. The challenge is designed to help you develop your idea further. During the program, you’ll refine your prototype, business model, and presentation. By the finals, you should have a demonstrable solution or a validated prototype to showcase.
Judges will evaluate projects based on innovation depth, impact, and feasibility. Key criteria include: the novelty and technical ingenuity of your solution, the significance of the problem addressed (and alignment with Egypt’s national priorities), the potential market or community impact, the progress made (prototype or experimental results), and the viability of your implementation/business plan. Teams that demonstrate a strong interdisciplinary approach and a capable team are also viewed favorably.
Are you ready to shape the future with your innovation? Don’t miss the opportunity to turn your research into reality and connect with Egypt’s vibrant deep tech ecosystem. Pre-Register for the 2026 Egypt Deep Tech Challenge and join the journey toward breakthrough solutions and national impact. Let’s build Egypt’s deep tech future together!
